- Biography
- Martin Karlsson is Director of the Research Center for Advanced Battery Technology (RECAT) at Luleå University of Technology. He works at the intersection of research, industry, and policy, focusing on how intelligent manufacturing, digitalization, and advanced process control can accelerate the industrialization of next-generation batteries. Before joining LTU, Martin held leadership positions at Northvolt, where he led the company’ academic affairs, as well as at Scania and Atlas Copco, driving innovation in electrification, automation, and industrial systems. Throughout his career, he has built large-scale collaborations between universities, industry, and public stakeholders. At RECAT, Martin leads initiatives in battery manufacturing, artificial intelligence, digital twins, and sustainable production, with a particular focus on translating research into industrial competitiveness and resilient European battery value chains.
