Mesfin HAILE MAMME

Biography: Mesfin Haile Mamme is Professor of AI-Driven Materials Discovery at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), where he leads research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, materials science, and advanced manufacturing. His work focuses on applying AI, machine learning, digital twins, and physics-informed data-driven modeling to accelerate the discovery, design, and optimization of next-generation materials and electrochemical systems.
He is actively involved in major European research and innovation initiatives focused on battery technologies, sustainable materials, and industrial digitalization. As Coordinator of FULL-MAP, one of Europe's flagship long-term research initiative that brings together more than 30+ partners from academia, research institutes, and industry to redefine the materials discovery paradigm. Through this multidisciplinary collaboration, FULL-MAP integrates advanced characterization, computational modeling, automation, and artificial intelligence to accelerate the development of ultra-high-performance, cost-effective, and sustainable battery materials of the future.
Through his research and collaborative projects, Prof. Mamme aims to bridge AI and materials science, enabling faster innovation cycles, more efficient manufacturing processes, and the transition toward a more sustainable and digitalized industry.
